If your business is active on social media you need to make sure the information you’re presenting to your current and potential customers is accurate and up to date. Having an out of date social reputation is similar to not being open for business. Or, being open for business but not being helpful to your customers. There are several important factors to consider about keeping your social reputation and presence up to date:
- What online image are you presenting? Is your online image friendly, helpful, engaging, and current?
- Is the image consistent with your brand? Does your online presence properly reflect you and your brand?
- Is the information presented up to date and accurate? Or is your website outdated and are your social media outlets inconsistent?
- Are you engaging with your followers, customers, and potential customers?
- And our personal favorite question – Is your social media reputation open for business? Meaning, can any interested customer contact your business, make a purchase, find FAQ’s, customer reviews/testimonials, etc?

As we said, your online reputation is important. Your online presence should be ready for business, ready to make a sale, and ready to engage. Your brand and company should be reflected consistently and accurately. A good clean-up plan is to review your social media outlets for outdated information and promptly update it. Follow-up on reviews, questions, comments, and likes. Engage with the people who are interested in what you have to offer. If there is inaccurate information such as reviews or comments (hey, we know negative junk happens). Promptly, work to resolve the issue or remove the false information.
